Description：
This course examines the
development and changes of Chinese family system since the Ming Dynasty, with
emphasis on its relations with society.
The course also discusses the ways in which Western cultures and
values affected the traditional concept of Chinese family and its system in
the 20th century.
Learning
Outcome：
By the end of
the course, students will be able to:
1. Comprehend
different stages of development in the history of the Chinese family;
2. Critically
analyze current issues of China and Hong Kong in relation to the change of
the family system;
3. Evaluate the
history of late imperial and modern China;
4. Apply
historical knowledge and methodology to other fields of study.
