CUSIS科目資料	Description： An intermediate course designed for native Cantonese-speaking students who have already acquired basic knowledge of Hanyu Pinyin and are able to conduct simple conversations in Putonghua in daily situations. The course aims to strengthen their knowledge of Hanyu Pinyin, improve pronunciation, and broaden vocabulary under different real-life settings. Students will be able to present their ideas in short connected utterances. Course contents focus on students’ ability to speak under a variety of real-life settings and present ideas in short connected utterances. Activities conducted in class include training on pronunciation and evaluating differences between Putonghua and Cantonese expressions with reference to their communicative ability at paragraph level. Students will be able to understand and identify phrases spoken by native speakers and speakers with dialect accents. E-learning components not only provide targeted training on pronunciation and listening, but also allow students to complete online exercises, conduct recordings, and take examinations online or at the language laboratory. Learning Outcome： Students are expected to:  (PO3: for levels 5-6) participate actively in conversations on various topics in some formal and most informal settings, handle a wide variety of speaking tasks with communicative strategies, deal effectively with unanticipated complications in oral communication, which can satisfy the requirements of school and work situations.  (S&L 1) understand and reply to professional discourses containing selected vocabulary items and grammatical structures in real life settings
