Description： Students will
learn the basic concepts of statistics, so that they will be equipped to
understand statistical reports and recognize when the quantitative
information presented is reliable. They will also learn about organizing and
displaying graphical and numerical summaries of data, and drawing conclusions
from them. The course uses computer interactive techniques, instead of
tedious arithmetic calculations, to introduce simple but powerful statistical
concepts. Topics include exploratory data analysis, statistical graphics,
sampling variability, point and confidence interval estimation, hypothesis
testing, as well as other selected topics. Learning
Outcome： (1) understand
basic concepts in statistics; (2) use various
statistical methods and techniques to summarise, present and analyse
data; (3) read
statistical reports and recognise when the quantitative information being
presented is accurate or misleading; and
(4) use
computer software to analyse data and draw conclusions. |

#1關於工業生產用既Statistical
quality control，特別係香港實用性不大，聽教授講剩係得中大仲有開呢個course。用到既Stat theory其實同3004 差唔多，只不過將alpha,
beta, power of the test等等既野轉去工業生產既scenario。內容唔算深，同3004差唔多，係一個入門級既4字頭。

Description：
This course
deals with the application of statistical techniques to problems associated
with the quality of a product which is produced in large numbers. It covers
acceptance sampling plans by attributes, acceptance sampling plans by
variables, rectifying inspection, control charts for attributes and control
charts for variables.
Learning
Outcome：
Upon completion
of the course, students should be able to
(1) understand
basic concepts in statistical quality control and improvement;
(2) use various
statistical methods and techniques to perform quality control and
improvement;
(3) apply the
theoretical methods to real applications in industry and management.
