#1 強烈建議take左或同時讀PHYS3031/4031(都係有關statistical mechanics 嘅course)是旦一科先好take,因為要用到唔少Stat.Mech知識,同時亦強烈建議要睇textbook先明教緊咩;Take 左Relativity course先再take呢科都有用 呢個course教咩睇prof.,正常情況下點都會教吓cosmology同 stellar evolution嘅;問題呢位prof.用左9成時間教cosmology…. |

#1 本身cosmology同stellar evolution係好有趣,但佢5個chapter入面教頭2個chapter嘅cosmology 居然用左接近兩個月去教,教學滯後哂又唔安排補課去追返進度,係去到最後幾堂先突然極速咁教,需要至少1個月時間去教嘅Stellar evolution就濃縮到只有2日去教兼跳左好多stellar
evolution 啲基本嘢,後面3個chapter真係完全係靠自修同問TA先明後面啲chapter啲concept;仲要喺教學進度嚴重滯後嘅前提下偷最後嗰堂嚟考final,有一份assignment deadline係final之後,簡直離哂大譜。 |

Description: This course
provides an introduction to modern astronomy and cosmology. Topics include:
star formation and pre-main sequence evolution, main sequence stars,
post-main sequence evolution: red giants, white dwarfs, supernovae, neutron
stars and black holes. Students should have basic knowledge in mechanics,
quantum mechanics and thermal physics (PHYS3011, 3021, 3031) before taking
this course. Students are advised to seek prior advice from the instructor
before enrolment. Learning
Outcome: By the end of
the course, students will be able to: 1. describe and
explain the basic concepts of galactic/stellar formation and evolution,
compact objects, and cosmology 2. demonstrate
the ability to further pursue these topics in depth 3. apply the
knowledge acquired from other courses (eg, quantum physics, statistical
mechanics, electromagnetism etc) to study various astrophysical systems |
