CUSIS科目資料	Description： This course is offered as one of the courses under the Elective Physical Education Programme. It aims to develop students’ knowledge and basic skills of martial arts bing dao, improve students’ physical fitness and motor coordination, and enhance students’ generic skills such as creative thinking, communication and team collaboration through the learning of bing dao basic movements and group practice. Contents of the course include: theory and practice of basic footwork, basic offensive techniques, basic defensive techniques, individual and two-person bing dao routines, bing dao related fitness and establishing a positive attitude towards sports participation, and so on. Bing dao performance is required as assessment at the end of the course and students can learn the basic performing knowledge and skills.   Learning Outcome： At the end of the course, students are able to: 1. demonstrate the basic individual and two-person routines of martial arts bing dao in a correct and safe way; 2. acquire with the basic footwork, offensive and defensive techniques of bing dao; 3. present individual and two-person bing dao routines; 4. experience traditional martial arts manners by learning martial arts bing dao; 5. demonstrate positive attitudes and values toward sports participation.

It aims at developing students’ fundamental fitness concepts and an option as a lifelong physical activity. Contents of this course include basic concepts of physical fitness, exercise safety, basic techniques of using fitness room facilities, basic principles of exercise prescription, basic knowledge and techniques of fitness testing, basic knowledge to choose the appropriate exercise mode and design fitness programmes, nurturing positive attitudes and values toward lifelong physical activity participation etc.   Learning Outcome： At the end of the course, students are able to 1. perform the basic techniques of using fitness room facilities and exercise safely; 2. use the most appropriate method to improve the fitness level; 3. describe the basic concepts of physical fitness; 4. administer the fitness testing and interpret the results accordingly; 5. design the plan of exercise prescription on different fitness components in accordance with the basic principles (including weight management); 6. demonstrate positive attitudes and values toward lifelong participation in physical activities.
