Description:
This course is offered as one of the courses under the Required
Physical Education Programme. It aims
at developing students’ fundamental fitness concepts and an option as a
lifelong activity. Contents include:
basic concepts of physical fitness, exercise safety, basic techniques of
using fitness room facilities, basic principles of exercise prescription,
basic knowledge and techniques of fitness testing, fitness courses and the
knowledge to choose the appropriate exercise mode, nurturing positive
attitudes and values toward sports participation, etc.
Learning
Outcome:
At the end of
the course, students are able to
1. perform the
basic techniques of using fitness room facilities and exercise safely;
2. use the most
appropriate method to improve the fitness level;
3. describe the
basic concepts of physical fitness;
4. administer
the fitness testing and interpret the results accordingly;
5. write the
plan of exercise prescription on different fitness components including
weight management in accordance with the basic principles;
6. demonstrate
positive attitudes and values toward life time participation of sports
activities.
