Description

This course adopts a combined structural (anatomical) and functional (physiological) approach of introducing the organization of the human body and various organ systems which are relevant to students of biomedical engineering. Students will be introduced to the general plan of the human body (i.e. anatomical directions and positions), and the structural and functional organization of the body parts starting from cells and tissues, and then to the different organ systems. More emphases are put on the basic principles and quantitative concepts based upon which the practice of biomedical engineering can be applied.

 

Learning Outcome

After completing this  course, students should be able to:

l   describe the basic anatomical features of the body systems and relate them to the specific functions they perform.

l   explain the cellular basis of communications amongst different cells, tissues or organs within the body with the use of chemical messengers and by electrical means.

l   describe the structural and functional organization of the musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory system and

l   apply the anatomical and physiological knowledge to understand the pathological conditions that cause dysfunctions.

#1 內容主要分 Anatomy Physiology 兩部分,Anatomy 主要背誦多,講身體結構,Physiology 要理解,講功能上既野,例如心臟嘅話,Anatomy就係心室、瓣膜等,Physiology就係心跳控制、血壓控制等。如果鍾意bio就會覺得有趣,會學到好多嘢。

 

呢科workload唔大,冇乜功課,得midterm (MC test)final,但一定要定期溫。每星期都會教大量content,到最後如果只計手寫濃縮notes都超過60版,lecture ppt更多,所以唔好堆積,最好每星期清該月content,否則考試前係背唔晒。

 

內容方面雖然建基於中學bio,但會深入好多,一部分contentbio E1類似,但好多都中學冇。如果中學冇讀biobio用中文讀係會再吃力啲,畢竟冇已有知識可以做connection輔助理解。

評價教員教學

#1 唔同part唔同人教,大部分都ok,上堂睇ppt都夠,唯獨是general physiology嗰個飛書飛得好快,上堂一定聽唔明,一定要自修。General physiology 啲內容頗難但又好重要,上堂三四個鐘一定理解唔到。
