#1  MATH 1038 一開始好簡單,之後會突然變得困難。建議自修Systems of Linear Equations之後自己花多啲時間係Vector SpaceLinear Combination呢啲課題,尤其係Prove-based的題目。我自己推介用FriedbergLinear Algebra(個人不喜歡Beezer)去學。至於Computational Based 的題目,完成CharlesExtra Exercise便可以,不用花太多時間。若果覺得Lienar Algebra概念抽象,不知如何入手,可以從計算題開始。

#1 Charles會插入一啲嗰個ChapterExtra Topics ,如果本身對個Chapter唔熟就好distract,要多多留意。

Description

This serves as the first course on linear algebra for MATH major students. The course emphasizes the fundamental concepts and principles in linear algebra, and focuses on rigorous reasoning of mathematical statements, computational techniques as well as applications.

Learning Outcome

Students are able to

-  define and distinguish the usual concepts used in linear algebra

-  logically prove basic statements in linear algebra and understand ideas behind the proofs of theorems

-  solve problems using linear algebra, including those in an abstract setting

-  apply the methods of linear algebra to standard problems in physics, engineering, or business economics

-  appreciate the rationale and impact of linear algebra to human development in science and technology

This course is intended to teach numerical computing, symbolic computing, and graphical visualization through the use of mathematical and computational software so as to familiarize the students with computing skills.
