Description
This course deals with the fundamentals of statistical methods, including descriptive statistics, probability, statistical inference, simple linear regression and basic ANOVA. Application of statistical methods to problems pertaining to business will be emphasized throughout this course.

Learning Outcome
After completing this course, students should be able to:
(1) Understand and use the basic language and tools of statistics: knowing what statistical terms mean, understanding the use of statistical symbols, and recognizing and being able to interpret representations of data;
(2) Master several important distributions, including normal distribution;
(3) Recognize how, when, and why existing inferential tools can be used, including simple linear regression and basic ANOVA;
(4) Understand the context of a business problem, and to apply statistics analysis to solve the problem and to draw conclusions;
(5) Have working knowledge of Excel or other statistic software in terms of basic data analysis tasks.

Description
This course is a general introduction to the theory of the determination of national income and aggregate economic behaviour. Topics include national income accounting, unemployment, inflation, monetary and fiscal policies for economic stabilization, and international economic issues. Applications of basic macroeconomic principles to contemporary business issues are emphasized.

Learning Outcome
After completing this course, students should be able to understand, explain and apply:
(1) Economic variables such as gross national product (GNP), gross domestic product (GDP), consumer price index (CPI), unemployment rate, and economic growth rate.
(2) Economic models that explain the business cycles.
(3) The role of banking sector, the creation of money, the role of central bank and its impact on monetary policy.
(4) The long-run and short-run aggregate supply (AS) and aggregate demand (AD). (5) The role of government and effects of fiscal policy. (6) The international economy in the context of foreign exchanges and balance of payments (BOP).
