CUSIS科目資料	Description： This course is an introductory-level design studio, in which students learn fundamental urban design concepts and tools for designing the urban built environment. The students work closely with the instructor to develop an urban design scheme for a study site, learning how to strategically organize major urban design elements, such as buildings, streets and open spaces, and infrastructure, taking into account a plethora of associated socioeconomic and environmental factors. The students go through a series of exercises, including precedent studies, site survey, site analysis, mapping, programming, model making, conceptualization, visualization, oral presentation, etc.   Learning Outcome： 1. To develop fundamental design skills in formulating an urban design scheme that incorporates major physical elements of the city, i.e. buildings, open spaces, streets, transport, and infrastructure, to meet the economic/ social/environmental needs of the community under the framework of SDGs (particularly SDG 11). 2. To identify issues/problems/opportunities of the study site and resolve into creative urban design proposals. 3. To apply verbal and visual communication skills for effective representation of urban design concepts / solutions. 4. To demonstrate critical thinking in urban design, urban management, and community building.

CUSIS科目資料	Description： Digital media and computer-aided design techniques for urban planning and design are the foci of this course. Several computer-aided tools for urban analysis, design exploration, digital modelling and representation, professional drafting, information and concept visualization, and model making are introduced through lectures and tutorials covering history, conceptual usage, and practical skill of digital techniques. Participants must supplement lectures and tutorials by completing the relevant software tutorials on their own. The learning objective of this course is to apply and transfer skills to a variety of analytical and design tasks.   Learning Outcome： After taking this course, students should be able to: 1. Master the basics of free-hand sketching, technical drawing and imaging techniques. 2. Develop skills for the use of computer-aided programs for visualization, analysis and design. 3. Acquire the sensibility of graphical expression and clarity of representation. 4. Recognise, comprehend and master the complexity of three-dimensional spatial setting. 5. Apply computer-aided design skills on tasks relevant to urban planning and urban design. 6. Analyse an urban design project, with considerable complexity, and communicate ideas visually

CUSIS科目資料	Description： This course is designed to introduce students to the multidisciplinary nature of urban studies. Students will learn the evolution of thoughts related to urban studies. And through local and overseas case studies, the instructors will investigate with students the social, economic, environmental and political aspects of urban development issues and their relationships with urban planning and design. Students will be encouraged to apply what they have learned to analyse an aspect of urban development in Hong Kong. Learning Outcome： After taking this course, students should be able to:  1.explain and analyse social, economic, environmental and institutional factors driving urban development; 2.generalize the roles of different stakeholders in the urban development process; 3.analyse how the production, distribution and consumption of resources shape the urban landscape; 4.compare and contrast urban developments in different parts of the world; 5.apply various skills in observing urban development, collecting data and critically analysing the gathered information; and  6.maintain a life-long interest in the urban realm.
