CUSIS科目資料	Description： This course is a general introduction to the theory of the determination of national income and aggregate economic behaviour. Topics include national income accounting, unemployment, inflation, monetary and fiscal policies for economic stabilization, and international economic issues. Applications of basic macroeconomic principles to contemporary business issues are emphasized. Learning Outcome： After completing this course, students should be able to understand, explain and apply:   (1) Economic variables such as gross national product (GNP), gross domestic product (GDP), consumer price index (CPI), unemployment rate, and economic growth rate.   (2) Economic models that explain the business cycles.   (3) The role of banking sector, the creation of money, the role of central bank and its impact on monetary policy.   (4) The long-run and short-run aggregate supply (AS) and aggregate demand (AD).   (5) The role of government and effects of fiscal policy.   (6) The international economy in the context of foreign exchanges and balance of payments (BOP).

評價教學內容	#1 Basic knowledge of DSE ECON, it should be OK if you don’t take Econ back in high school.
評價教員教學	#1 Professor is from Australia, if you hate Hong Kong accent, he’s your guy. You can basically ask him whatever you want, including exchange program, reference letter for scholarship. A very nice professor.
CUSIS科目資料	Description： This course is a general introduction to the theory of price in a market economy. Topics include basic economic concepts, the theory of demand, production and cost, the operation of firms in competitive, oligopolistic and monopolistic markets, costs and benefits of government intervention in market economy, and introduction to game theory and informational economics. Analytical approach is used whenever appropriate. Applications on practical business problems are emphasized.   Learning Outcome： After completing this course, students should be able to understand, explain and identify the followings:  (1) Basic concepts of scarcity, opportunity cost, demand and supply mechanisms and their applications to the business world.  (2) The factors that determine the market demand and their effects by the concept of elasticity.  (3) The factors that determine the market supply, the relationship between production function and costs of production.  (4) The different market structures (i.e., perfect competition, monopoly and oligopoly) and relate them to the conduct of a firm and performance of the industry.  (5) The market failure and their remedies.

CUSIS科目資料	Description： This course deals with the structure and operations of commercial and central banks. It examines supply of money, process of deposit creation in commercial banks, the tools and impact of monetary policy and the role of central banking in the banking industry. It also considers banking practices in an international context.   Learning Outcome： Upon completion of the course, students should be able to: ~ Explain the relationship between money, banking and the economy. ~ Explain how money is created and how money supply is measured. ~ Describe the roles and functions of central banks and how they are performed in different countries and Hong Kong. ~ Describe the structure of the banking systems and their regulatory systems in different countries and Hong Kong. ~ Explain the structure and determination of interest rates. ~ Illustrate how the tools of monetary control are operated, and the relationship between monetary base and money supply. ~ Explain the monetary system and the Linked Exchange Rate system in Hong Kong. ~ Illustrate the various ways that monetary policies can be implemented, including those used by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. ~ Identify international banking activities and explain the procedures used in the import/export financing of foreign trade.
