Description: From a
historical perspective, the course explores the origin and evolution
characteristics of Chinese culture. Its contents analyse and describe the
historical traditions and changes in Chinese politics, economy, society,
religion, culture and education, as well as the relationship between Chinese
tradition and modernisation. Learning
Outcome: 1. 學生認識中國不同朝代的演變過程及發展特色以至不同史學家的演繹方法, 進而加強理解、欣賞和評價中國歷史及文化的能力。 Students can
learn the evolution process and development characteristics of the different
Chinese dynasties as well as the different interpretations of historians.
This will strengthen their abilities to understand, appreciate and evaluate
Chinese history and cultures. 2. 本科的課業要求, 讓學生學會撰寫研究報告的基礎技巧: 資料的蒐集、考證與分析, 從而應用於其研讀的學科,生活以至工作上。 The course
requirements enable students to learn basic research skills such as data
collection, verification and analysis in writing research reports. Students can apply such skills to their
field of study, lives and careers. 3. 多元史觀的展示與批判,將提升同學獨立思考的能力,同學可利用客觀分析事物的方法, 解決現實生活以至未來工作上的困難。 The
demonstration and critique of multi-dimensional interpretations of history
will enhance students’ critical thinking ability. Using an objective
analytical approach, they will be able solve problems in life and in their
future work. |

#1 教的內容太廣(漢書+史記+資治通鑑+三國志),而且完全沒有系統,最重要的是很多課題根本亳無意義,例如有一課談三國的醫療系統,內容就是華佗醫德很好但因跟曹操溝通不好所以被殺了因此我們要反思現代醫患關係……每堂大致就是這樣吹些有的沒的,跟初中上的歷史課差不多,有種智商被侮辱的感覺。 #2 workload好輕 成個course得一個mc mid term同一份paper要交,mid term d mc好直接簡單,基本上滿分十拿九穩。term paper啲問題都算straight forward,都係問返ppt啲嘢。只要你正常嘅話一定唔會爛grade。

#1 經常吹噓自己的成就(TVB請他去講解歷史知識、XX報刊找他約稿、大學時拿了百萬獎學金去日本留學、自學了韓語),每次都講個不停,老實說我並沒有任何興趣:)還有,做take-home exam時發現他PPT的內容原來不少都是從其他學者的論文照抄的(例如漢書的星野觀,完全是搬字過紙),差評。 #2 都幾肯關心同學嘅需要,每堂最尾都會逐個解答返同學嘅問題,想遲幾日交term paper嘅話同佢講就得,有求必應咁濟。上堂就一般啦,唔會講到1999,但又唔會講到好funny咁。

Description:
This course
introduces four classical history books of ancient China: Records of the
Grand Historian (Shiji), Standard History of the Han (Hanshu), Records of the
Three Kingdoms (Sanguozhi) and Comprehensive Mirror for Aid in Government
(Zizhi tongjian). It particularly analyses the historical contexts, purposes,
genres, compilations, historical thoughts of these history books and the
characteristics of the Chinese culture shown in them. Students are given
close guidance to study the typical writings in these historical books to
comprehend, analyse and appraise the essence of traditional Chinese
historiography as well as the evolution and characteristics of history,
politics, economics and society in the Chinese cultural heritage from
multi-disciplinary and comparative perspectives, and reflect on the
intellectual and cultural insights of these traditions into the contemporary
society and life.
Learning
Outcome:
After
completing this course, students are expected to be able to identify,
comprehend and critically appraise through intellectual dialogue :
1. the
essential features of the traditional Chinese historiography, which is an important
part of the Chinese culture;
2. evolution
and characteristics of these aspects of the Chinese cultural heritage in the
historical contexts;
3. intellectual
and cultural insights of these traditional aspects into the modern society
and life as well as their close and meaningful relevance;
Students are
also expected to:
4. develop a
broad historical perspective for reflecting on perennial issues and concern
for various situations of human existence;
5. broaden the
intellectual perspective for mastering the important ideological trends of
the contemporary world and understanding issues related to their life and
society, and addressing unfamiliar problems of today with the application of
historical wisdom; and
6. master the
ability to analyse and compare historical documents in depth and articulate
the related history and its significance in writing.

Description:
This course intends to examine the political, diplomatic, social, economic and cultural transformations from Tang to Song China, with emphasis on the political centralization by autocratic monarchy, the structural changes of society and economy as well as the evolving socio-cultural life. It will enable students to master the basic concepts, knowledge and empirical methods for the study of the theory of the T’ang-Song transformation in multiple perspectives through PowerPoint lectures, interactive tutorials, primary text readings and documentary film appreciation.
Learning Outcome:
學生完成本課程後,將能:
- 具備研習唐宋時期變革歷史乃至中國歷史時代分期的多元視野和實證方法; - 掌握有關唐宋時期的政治、外交、社會、經濟及文化諸方面的變革歷史及彼此間的互動關係的基本概念和知識; - 養成對於唐宋時期各方面變革歷史的批判分析思維,例如能夠評估原始文獻中有關證據或事例在多少程度上說明變革歷史的某(些)方面,或檢查諸載例能否證明作者的論點; - 參考家課式作業的指引,就唐宋變革歷史的重要課題,撰寫具邏輯、連貫性及創意的短文; - 透過原始文獻譯讀和互動性導修課,掌握搜尋和詮釋相關原始文獻、跟其他同學溝通協作、運用合適參考工具進行書面和口頭報告等技巧。 | ||||||||||
