#1頭半個 course 1st order, 2nd order linear ODE ,基本上係外國 A Level Pure Math 嘅嘢,後半部份教 System of ODE 要用少少 Linear Algebra 知識 (Eigenvector, Eigenvalue),成個 course 就係學解 ODE,識微積分就 Take 得,完全唔洗寫 Proof,以數學系嘅 course 嚟講,屬於非常簡單

#1 MC Cheng 教得好好,同一班有好多 non-MATH major 嘅學生問問題,都好用心解答

Local Lecturer,廣東話就一定無問題,英文都正常啦

(呢科通常係 sem 1 同 暑 sem 開,暑 sem 本身開一班係 Dr. XIAO Jingjing 教,不過太多人 reg 搞到 waitlist 100 先開多一班搵 MC Cheng 教)

Description

Ordinary differential equations arise from quantitative description of natural and social phenomena. Topics are: method of explicit solution, linear equations and systems, series solutions, Sturm-Liouville boundary value problems, dynamical systems and stability, applications to mechanics, electrical networks and population of species.

 

Learning Outcome

After taking and passing this course, a student should be able 

- to solve first or second order ODE’s by elementary methods such as change of variables and power series expansion, 

- to understand the structure theory of linear systems of equations, 

- on the theoretical side, to master the proof of the fundamental theorem on existence and uniqueness of solution to a general ODE, and 

- to understand the basic concept of stability of a solution including some examples arising from mathematical biology. 

- to know the set-up of the Sturm-Liouville boundary value problems.
