Description

This course is designed to introduce basic knowledge in the relationship between exercise and personal health, and to encourage the adoption of healthy lifestyle habits. Practical knowledge including principles in developing and evaluation of a health based exercise programme will be the focus. Health related topics such as weight management, nutrition, muscular function, etc., will be discussed. Class format will be mainly mini-lectures, active exercise participation, group tutorials and discussion. Students will be required to develop personal muscular training program and aerobic exercise training program. This course will also enable students to pursue a "Personal Health and Fitness Proficiency Certificate".

 

Learning Outcome

Ÿ  to gain an understanding of the value for total health and fitness;

Ÿ  to develop an individual exercise and nutrition program;

Ÿ  to improve cardiovascular fitness by active participation in a personal fitness program;

Ÿ  to improve muscular fitness by active participation in a personal fitness program;

Ÿ  to gain practical knowledge and skills to maintain ideal body weight and fatness;
